After a grueling, but very satisfying Blending Game Jam that saw a bunch of traditional video games, some board games (regular or integrated with a video game) and a couple VR games, we just could not let go!
We had a few minor bugs that were nagging at us at the end of the jam, so we went ahead and fixed them!
It is probably a good idea to test this new version, since we feel it plays better. Here's a quick list of what changed, ranging from mundane to relatively important things !
- Added a missing logo at the start
- Fixed an issue where the player character would move one or two more tiles further than expected
- Fixed the score not being actually reset to 0 when playing after a game over.
- Pressing Escape during the game kills the character rather than restart the game. That way, if you get trapped with nowhere to run, at least you can get that high score saved!
- The game now guarantees you end up on a free tile and not in a wall when you switch room. But it also blocks the tiles you come in from, making it potentially a tad more tricky.
- Fixed an issue where freed NPCs moved around weirdly before disappearing. They still were earning you the points, but now they will exit the room correctly.
- Made the characters actually move voxel-by-voxel, although this is too fast to be really seen (but now you know we did it)!
- Prevented tiles from randomly glitching under you, preventing some very unfair insta-deaths.
- Fixed a room layout that meant you could randomly spawn in a hole and die immediately.
- Added some black fog at the bottom of the level so that falling objects disappear more gracefully.
- Tweaked the "glitch" shader used to improve performances somewhat.
